Thursday

When will this so-called Spring get a bit warmer?   Perhaps it is something to do with my somewhat depressed state at the moment, but I do find the weather very cold and seem to have the central heating on most of the time these days (and my electric blanket at night.)

Today Tess and I went down to the feedmerchants to buy cat biscuits for the farm cats and wheat and layers pellets for the hens.   On the way back we stopped at Marfield Wetlands and had a walk.   There was a sharp wind blowing but it didn't seem to be deterring the ducks and other water birds - they were paired up and in many cases nesting.   I did take my camera but forgot to put it in my pocket when I left the car in the car park.   But I promise I will get back into photography before long.

My son and his wife return from their holiday in Wales today - I must say they seem to have been away a very long time.  (twelve days) and I shall be pleased to see them home.

In the feedmerchants there was a man with a cage holding four brown labrador pups - they were exquisite.   Isn't every young thing beautiful?   Why do they have to grow up (that includes us humans too).

Labrador pups - irresistible! Cold here too in south west France, lots of sunshine but a bitterly cold north wind.

Last year we moved at the end of March and it was then very cold for several weeks. This year we moved 1st March and it doesn't seem to have been as cold as last year, although when the North East wind blows across the fields here it's pretty chilly!
How did you get on with the quiz questions?

We still have a cold wind here, though when the sun is out it's not quite so bad. Two of our Stable Swallows seem to have made it home, so I am hoping for more of their family in the next couple of days.

Oh, Lab puppies - irresistible. I hope they will find lovely new forever homes.

You will be glad to have your son and his family home from Darkest Wales. I hope they enjoyed their holiday.

I don't feel grown up. Norfolk is bitterly cold at the moment.

You're not alone in the cold, we have had the heating on as well. As for the puppies, yes it's a great shame that we all have to get old. I don't mind the getting old bit it's the stiffness that annoys me, I can't walk like I used to and it's infuriating. Still, I must not complain there are a lot worse. Hope you are okay and not feeling too down. Hugs

17 degrees in the NE of Scotland. But Winter returns next week with wintry showers and winds. You never get bored! Windy today. This stiff, old person went very rapidly to the right but managed to stay upright. Enjoy your family back.

It would be nice to see more pictures of your corner of Yorkshire.

Perhaps you should have brought the pups home - they would cuddle up and keep you warm! I bet they were beautiful as lab pups always are. Does Tess like other dogs Pat?

In agreement with YP - would love more photos of your area when the weather warms and you can spend more time on your walks through the countryside.

I agree with you about babies of any sort being beautiful - human babies and dogs are particularly so. Such a pity we have to grow up!
I have got as far as having the heating off in the middle of the day, but have occasionally had to put it on to the whole day setting. It seems awful to have it on at all in April.
Keep warm, and I hope your son and daughter-in-law have brought back a souvenir from Wales for you.

Don't be seduced Weaver! Pups = months of piddle and chewing! Yes, they're gorgeous, but the work! I couldn't believe how much more difficult to train the pup was, in comparison with the kitten! And climbing the curtains wasn't nearly as destructive as chewing the legs of all the dining chairs! Fortunately we love her to bits and the adult dog is wonderful, but, never again!!

You will enjoy having your family home again. Safe traveling everyone.

Very very chilly next week is forecast. I'm off work and was hoping for better weather although I am keeping very active

I hope you get some warm weather soon Pat - we are so thankful our long, extremely hot summer seems to have passed here. We have a horrible wind blowing and a few showers but all that is preferable to the heat.
Puppies are so appealing, so wriggly and cuddly. They are such a lot of work though! I hope they all found good homes.
I think of you each morning when I am doing my exercises. Cheers XX

I was just thinking today how much happier I am when the sun shines and the air is warm. Hope your spring comes soon.

My weather page is telling me that it's 0 C this morning. I haven't been out yet as it's still dark.

Just as cold here in Kent Pat, especially early mornings and evenings and much colder forecast for next week - what's going on this year! There was also a mention in the Telegraph the other day that suggested hose pipe bans are looming for this summer, with little rain forecast for all May.
Was the man selling the puppies in the cage from the shop, I'm not a great lover of that way of selling puppies, they always appeal but much better if you can see where they were bred and their parents.

It is cold here too in north Italy and a chilly wind is blowing. Keep warm.

Cold here, too; I need the heating on most of the time and have dragged out my padded winter coat and thick scarves again.
Looking forward to seeing photos of your surroundings!

I was a bit worried that the little blast of heat earlier in the month might be the only bit of Summer we get, but it is not so cold here as other places. As far as I can see, vertebrates of all species use cuteness when young as a defence mechanism.

Young puppies need to look cute and beautiful, because they give us so much worry and work as they grow up, a bit like human babies of course. It is cold that north-westerly wind seems continuous around here.

We are up to a balmy 10 degrees C here in my part of Ontario today. It was miserable and windy and poured rain all day yesterday. Electric blankets are wonderful things, aren't they? I'm not sure what cat biscuits are, but I'm sure you have some appreciative barn cats. -Jenn

So sorry it is still chilly - as it is here today.
I quite agree that it is a pity lovely children and puppies grow up.
When I was a child we got one of our lovely pups from the feedstore in Brentwood.
Punch was a gorgeous springer spaniel.
Buster died 11 months ago and I’m just feeling the stirrings of a need for a new dog.

Love to you and Tess.

Our spring is not shaping up to be a good one. One day of weak sunshine then 5 days of rain and gloomy skies. But at least the snow is gone even if the ground is so soggy. Hang tight; you are doing marvelously well, I think.
