Friday

For the last couple of days I have not felt particularly like blogging and there has been nothing to blog about in any case.    The weather has been very cold, the farmer is not one hundred percent and I went with him to the doctor yesterday.   He has got to have a thorough M O T and undergo a lot of tests, which is good.   Perhaps we can get to the bottom of why he feels just a little under the weather most of the time.

Yesterday I managed to fit about a week's things into one day and ended up very tired.   I got a lot of  clearing out of slides done and taken to the tip - another clearing out day.   But I had a bit of a disaster with the computer (which I won't go into), then going to the doctors with the farmer, then getting the tea - and by that time I just felt like relaxing.

Today friend W and I went out to lunch and that really did me good.   Good friend, delicious lunch in a lovely warm restaurant - what could be better.  We had a  'platter' of salad, deep fried camembert, battered mushrooms, salmon, onion rings and breadcrumbed chicken breast.   A cup of latte coffee followed and I came home in a much better frame of mind.

Oh dear, I hope the doctor can sort out The Farmer. Very grey and cold here today not cheerful weather but your meal sounds very delicious

Pat, could it just be that you are going to have to accept that both of you are of a certain age and trying to be as energetic as you were some years ago just isn't possible. Soon this awful winter weather will be over and you can both enjoy some sun and warmth and hopefully any illness's will fade away. Take it easy Pat x

I do hope the doctor finds some treatment to make the farmer feel like himself once more. I am also pleased that you had such a lovely lunch out with your friend. It's not a good time of year, even though we get the odd beautiful winter day now and then.
Keep warm and take good care of yourselves.

Oh dear - that's not good news Weaver. I hope the doctor can pinpoint the problem, and fix it easily, although as Derek intimated, 'old age is not for sissies' and they haven't found a pill for it yet. The mid-winter blues don't help either, and it sounds like you've had a particularly cold one, so perhaps a the days lengthen again, your spirits will be lifted. In the meantime, go easy on yourselves, and if there are days when you don't get to blog, we will understand, and worry until you check in again :-) Best wishes to you both.

Derek says something that's true. But. And there is.

We battle on. It's in our nature. Belief in immortality. I think we are immortal. In fact I believe It and I know it.

Just watch the birdies feeding. That should perk you both up. It is frigid with ice and snow and I've fed all the lake waterfowl 3 times instead of once. Plus, nuts for the squirrels and seed for the birds and doves. The ducks even marched up the stairs wondering what they could find up here to eat and left duck footprints up and down the steps.

There is something to be said for hibernating, too. I hope you get some answers from the doctor and all is well. -Jenn

Meanwhile we stay in because it's too hot outside (early mornings and evenings are good). Pity we can't lend you sun and get some cool. Jean

Well I trust that it will soon be sorted for the Farmer, the weather when it is gray is very miserable and the long haul of January and February are with us. But spring is on its way, the days will grow longer and our world will become warmer. X

Thanks everyrone. I am in a much better frame of mind this morning - a couple of good nights' sleep and things never seem as bad do they? What you all say is, of course, the absolute truth. Beautiful morning here.

Well that's good news Pat.

Do hope the farmer feels better soon.
I always enjoy your descriptions of your meals!

As folk often say, you love your food don't you Mrs Weaver! It is surprising that you are not barrel-shaped! As for the farmer, does he need his spark plugs cleaning with a little wire brush? Seriously, I hope he gets himself sorted out quite soon. Good health is very precious.

Have just come across your blog by total accident. Love your no-nonsense way with the words. Your entry about 'The Farmer' reminded me of Hardy's 'Farmer Gabriel Oak' in Far From the Madding Crowd. Real farmers tend to be stoic and durable and it is certain that your man of the land will prevail. Kindest Regards.

I'm glad to learn that things are better round your place, Pat. As always, best wishes to you and the Farmer. We might receive about three inches of snow later today. Nothing too serious, but perhaps providing some photo ops. xo

For me there is nothing more therapeutic than a good lunch with a good friend! And that lunch sounds just wonderful... Hope the farmer is feeling better soon. I've been suffering a bad cold myself and am having the dickens of a time getting rid of it -- I suspect it's an age thing.
