Perfect

Today really has been the most perfect day in terms of the weather.   After waking up to a wet morning here in North Yorkshire, within an hour the sun was shining and it has been wall-to-wall sunshine all day.   There was a slight cool breeze but in the sun it was still quite warm.

Our morning coffee meeting - three of us today - passed off nicely as usual; plenty of laughs, plenty of chat, good coffee and delicious toasted teacakes.   Then it was home to cook lunch and the afternoon catching up on blogs, ordering a sweater from M and S as a birthday present from the farmer, ordering new cartridges for my printer, and welcoming (and chatting to) the lady who called to sell us our poppies.

Now there is just about time to empty the dishwasher, feed the dog, get a salad ready for tea and put my feet up in time to watch 'Flog it'.

I really was overwhelmed by everyone's birthday greetings yesterday - thank you all so much.  I also had lots of cards and letters from friends - all of which added up to a very nice day indeed.

Haven't seen a door to door poppy seller for donkeys years. Actually haven't even seem any poppies available anywhere so far.

And a belated Happy Birthday to you, Weaver! Today was stunning here, too. And the colours are looking quite wonderful. Walked into town and back in the sunshine -- glorious and a good chance for another like it tomorrow!

There is comfort in doing the same things day to day. Your day sounds like a good one. My husband literally brought a box of mail, bills, catalogs and magazines this morning. Not how I expected the day to begin. I haven't been home to the farm in over two weeks so it all piled up. I take the first sentence back.

Thought you were in the process of writing "ordering new cartridges for my shotgun!". I've not seen daylight all day in here, so no idea what it's been like here.

Glad someone is getting sunshine. We have been spoiled, so can't complain, and have had two or three weeks of lovely weather but today has been a bit 'Novemberish'.

There don't seem to be as many poppy sellers around this year, and I've never bought one at the door ... what a good service :-)

Sorry I missed your birthday, belated greetings, I hope you had a good day. xx

A pleasantly busy day, it seems.
Gorgeous weather here yesterday, too; it was a Bank Holiday in my part of Germany and so everybody took advantage of the beautiful day and took their families and dogs for walks. Rainy today which is just as well, as I am going to spend the entire day at the office anyway.

"Flog It"? I had no idea you were into TV shows which feature physical punishment. Flogging was finally abolished in 1967 so it is puzzling how the producers of this TV show get away with it.

Good to read of your perfect sunny autumn day. We are in our second day of rain and gloom. Hope the sun emerges at some point soon to give our batteries a little charge!

Yes, some particular days do seem to stand out as particularly good ones, particularly if the weather sets the stage well. xo
