Exhausted

Back from my exercise class and exhausted after an hour of concentrated jolly hard work.   I wish we could have it every day - then I might get fitter.   Yes, I know I could do the exercises at home but, dear reader, the flesh is weak.

Time to get tea ready and settle down for the evening.   For anyone who is watching the Farm Life programme on BBC 2 at 7pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening I am sure they are enjoying it.   It is excellent.

We love "This Farming Life" especially the farmer who is having trouble with selling the bulls. A really lovely programme.

We are enjoying the Farm programmes but Col read in the paper that they have had lots of complaints about the "glamourising the life and death of animals that are bred for meat!!" Whatever next?

After my walk round the park, it got cold and grey and I didn't feel like doing anything any more

I haven't seen that programme - I must look to see if it is on in our area. Well done for attending your exercise class. I have a half-hour exercise session which contains one particular one I call The Killer! I have to do them first thing in the morning or I would find excuses during the day for not doing them at all.

The flesh is weak, I love that. I'd say you are pretty strong Pat.

I'm exhausted too after guests for several days and then being away. A mix of late nights and poor sleep, it seems to take ages nowadays to recover. At least you get some benefit from your exercise, I think I've put weight on.

My flesh is weak, too, Weaver. I need a leader telling me what to do, how often. I had an assessment, today. The flesh is definitely stronger than when I began.

Weaver, I missed seeing your earlier post, and want to let you know that I admire your poem, and would usually choose a slower, more contemplative pace myself. Walking is a fine speed for me to think, and actually appreciate the spaces I am passing through. (Internal and external spaces, perhaps.)

Bravo to you for regularly attending exercising sessions. I have made a note to myself.

Pat, I always, and please don't take offence at this, question why somebody of a certain age wants to get fitter - fitter for what - you lead an active, healthy and happy life, why do you need to be fitter.
As for the "This Farming Life" programme, I think it is the best farming programme that I've seen. As for it glamourising the death of animals, what rubbish, those people are simply accepting, in the best way that they know, that ultimately the animals have to die.

Considering how short this post is, there is LOTS to think about, and I could write a comment 10 times as long - but I won't, because that would be rather impolite, wouldn't it :-)

To have such a class every day would be a bit over the top; an hour every day is a LOT of exercise. For most people, 20 minutes 3 times a week (on top of regular walks) are plenty, and enough, unless you wish to enter a team competing in some sport such as running, cycling or dancing.
I miss running; it's been far too cold for me to do anything more outdoors than walk, but I am hoping for a milder weekend. I'll be staying at a friend's house in the country and will definitely be taking my running gear.

The flesh is weak 'cause there is, in my case, too much of it.
Derek asks why at an advanced age we want to get fitter, I think we have other halves that may need the help in later life and we have to stay good to go.

First I've heard of it (we don't watch much "live" TV, mainly catch up and netflix when we get the rare chance to sit down) I'll have to check it out, thanks for the heads up

Not sure that as one gets older you have to exercise, after all everything is beginning to wear down anyway ;). Walking the dog is the best, gentle exercise and a time to contemplate the world of nature.

Please read Sue and Derek on the farming programme both talk such a lot of sense.
The programme does not glamourise farming - it just makes it out to be absolutely frightful in winter weather - and not always profitable. Our friends bought a limousine bull from the limousine chap and it is performing very well. Nobody does this kind of job for 'fun' they are usually born into it - as one of them says' farming is not a job it is a way of life'. This does not apply to the two barristers but I feel they are just doing it because they enjoy it.
Thanks for calling - and those of you who do - then keep up the exercise.
