Out for lunch.

The farmer has gone walking with the Wensleydale Society today.  He had hardly left the house when there was a snowstorm which lasted an hour, but didn't settle.

W and I decided to go to Masham, about ten miles away, to a cafe called Johnny Baghdad's.    Although only small it was packed and the smells emanating from the door were delicious.

They serve a variety of Middle Easter food with overtones of European and Far Eastern touches.   W had Thai cakes with chick peas, salsa and salad and I had Spanish omelette with black olives and salad, also served with a salsa.   The food was delicious and very cheap( £15 for the two of us) and heavily laced with garlic as the farmer discovered the moment he came back through the kitchen door after his walk.

By the time we got to Masham the sun was shining and it was a pleasant, tho' cold day.   But as the seats in W's fourtrack are heated it was beautifully warm in there.

Now we are both home, Tess has been taken for her walk and the farmer is lighting the wood burner.   A snug, cosy night is called for, garlic or no garlic.

If you have high blood pressure, garlic will keep it down. Garlic will keep the flu away from you ...unfortunately, keeps people at a distance too. Greetings Maria

We always try and visit Johnny Baghdad's for a coffee and their delicious custard Danish pastries. Unfortunately, we can only go there two or three times a year when we go through Masham either to or from our holidays in Swaledale or Wensleydale, it is always busy. Hope that you don't get too much more snow1

It all sounds good. I'm one of those people who think you can never have too much garlic. By the way, i will post the recipe for the Corn Chowder with chicken and bacon.

Sounds like a good day, minus the cold and snow. Farmer was probably jealous about not getting to eat that delicious meal.

What an interesting sounding restaurant!
Also what changeable weather you seem to be having.

warm greetings from NYC!

Garlic is so good for you - my husband HATES it, and I love it, so we have to agree to differ and he threatens to wear a peg on his nose!! Sounds like a tasty meal anyway, and I'm glad the snow didn't settle.

Garlic will ward off colds and other ailments so it is good stuff, even if the aroma is not to everyone's liking! That sounds like an excellent way to spend a winter Saturday.

The Wensleydale society sounds like my kind of society. Or at least it would be if it was about cheese.

Thankfully, my Skinny One likes garlic as well as I do so snogging is still on. Sounds like a perfectly lovely day, despite snow and cold.

Unfortunately Simon the Society is not about cheese! They have one walk a month (well actually two both on the same day - one short, about eight miles, and one long, about ten.)In the Winter they have one talk a month too.

The farmer has protested loud and long about the garlic. I must say that it is so strong that I can smell it myself!

Thanks for popping over.
