Weather.

After weeks of wet, mild and muddy weather, the present weather seems to be coming straight over from Siberia according to the weather map.   And outside seems to bear this out.

This morning it was blowing a gale and there was a blizzard of wet snow.   But by afternoon the sun came out and the snow melted.   But it is bitterly cold and there is no comfortable place to be other than by the stove with its red glow.   Better get my winter coat out of the wardrobe before going into town in the morning.

It sounds as if the time has come to zip the warm lining into my jacket and to get a pot of nice thick soup on the go.

I have beaten you there Pat, as I have worn my Lowe Alpine fleece a few times this winter already. It is the only coat that actually keeps the wind out.

Our weather streams itself right down from the North Pole, into Canada, then through Montana hitting us in the winter. Come summer is will swing right up from the gulf of Mexico.

It's suddenly much colder here too. I know we will see snow on the Brecon Beacons when we drive to Brecon tomorrow. Keep warm and Make Soup!

It is amazing with all that rain, that the buildings don't sink in the muck. After two warm days it is coming down from the pole and will be cold again. Not fit for man nor beast. And yet, the animals still have to be fed.

So sorry for your cold weather, Pat - but envy you the sunshine. Haven't seen Old Sol for days and days, or even a little patch of blue sky...

We haven't got any snow yet here in North Kent, just light rain, but boy is it cold. The wind is coming straight off the Thames Estuary and North Sea and straight round my bungalow which is just half a mile away from the sea.

The weather forecasters get so excited as well, SEVERE FROSTS over the weekend. At least it will wrap up all the water around for awhile. Do be careful walking as well, black ice is a horror.

Our snow didn't arrive until tea time, mainly wet stuff but some did freeze overnight. Glad I changed to my 15tog duvet last night.

Definitely time to get warm coats and thermal underwear out! No snow yet in the south but a hard frost this morning.
Take care when you go into town Pat!

Sounds like you enjoyed snow day!

No snow hereabouts yet, but it's now definitely winter. Woolly socks help keep the chill away. I like the sound of sitting by a fire. xo

At least the cold seems to be greeting us all, wherever we live. Soup is indeed the answer - and warm clothing in plenty of layers. Thanks for calling in.

I always look on your blog for my Northern weather report, Weaver! The sunny photos look inviting but I recall just how biting those clear days can be. We are currently having the same weather in the South-West. Friends have just sent me the link to a dvd of Coverdale (where my parents lived) which is being sold to raise funds for the air ambulance. www.coverdalefilm.com The trailer shows snow blowing off the wall tops and the wind 'wuthering' - weather that I recall well! The film is to be premiered at Tennants early next month.
