Italian

Met friends for lunch today in Richmond, driving there through heavy fog.   Lunch was a complete Italian affair in La Piazza - all delicious, but have eaten too much particularly as I have made a cassoulet for tea tonight - I think we will have to be a little late eating it.   The friends are coming back here after wandering round Richmond and will stay the night, so it is but a short blog today.  As my friend W remarked on our way home, it is a typical November day in December.   Oh to see the sun, if only for half an hour.

I always overindulge in Italian fare and feel worse for it afterward. I know the feeling about seeing the sun. I can only abide two days without it and then I get crabby and down. Don't know why, but I do thrive on sunshine.

I have tried and tried to read your previous post - when I do it automatically goes to an ad for Goodwill and then says it will return in 6 seconds - and never does - and then it give a place to click to return to your blog - which doesn't work. Is it blogger or something else I wonder.

The sun makes everything better and after two days, the grey skies make everything start to seem a little sad. Italian for lunch sounds like a good way to cope with the lack of sun. Italian with friends even better.

One can understand how it is that Italy produces all those large operatic singers. Though how they also find young men who can fit into F1 cars is a mystery.

A pleasant, sunny day here, although not very warm. One of the reasons we retired so far south in Europe was to get away from the relentless, miserable, English winters.

It sounds as if the weather has not spoiled your friends' visit. It has been wet and very grey all day today here too. I am longing for some proper wintry days - crisp frosts and a chill in the air and no more rain for ages!

I adore your friend W saying...
Today in Tucson it is a typical February day in December.
Bright blue skies, white clouds with snow on the mountains and temps 47/28.
Much too cold for December.

cheers, parsnip

Misty, poor light, very damp and mild all day here in Kent, and this evening it's raining hard. I'm voting for what Heather wants.

Richmond is a lovely town. The last time I wandered around there was in 1977 with a friend whose parents kept a pub and could remember the winter of 1947 when they were snowed in for a long time and ended up using the pub furniture to burn to keep warm. I hope it doesn't get that bad this winter. Have an enjoyable evening with your friends.

JoAnn, sorry about the blip on your computer - hope it soon rights itself.
Thanks for calling in - I must say regarding Italian food, it is very easy to eat too much!!
