Stormy weather.

The weather here has been absolutely awful, with the first real storm of Winter coming in off the Atlantic.   This means the for once the Western side of the country has had it much worse than we have over here in the East.   The winds have been very strong in the far North, but here in The Dales we have really only caught the tail end of the storm.   However, that was quite enough for me; each time a squally shower arrived the wind picked up and the sky went black and for twenty minutes or so it was awful.   I must point out that in spite of this, the lady in our exercise class who is over ninety years old, still walked up through the town from her bungalow to join in as usual.

Tea in the cafe afterwards was a jolly affair and we all received a hot mince pie with our pots of tea, courtesy of the cafe.   What a nice touch.

One good thing about wearing a hearing aid (the only thing as far as I am concerned) is that when I take it out at bedtime it doesn't matter how the wind screams and the windows rattle, I can't hear a thing!   More nasty weather on the way for tomorrow.

We are expecting a windy , rainy storm here too Weaver starting tonight and lasting two days. They say we could receive 2-4 inches of rain. We need it so badly that no one is begrudging the inconvenience . :) The higher elevations are expecting a couple FEET of snow! Its been a few years since CA has seen a storm like this.

I'll spend the time putting the finishing touches on Christmas. Everything is pretty much done except the tree... Hubby always puts the lights on the tree for me but he has injured his back so we are behind schedule. If need be i'll put them on myself but i'm trying to wait for him. He doesn't get involved in Christmas very much and i think this one act is good for him. Dispels a little bit of the Scrooge in him...lol he might disagree with that...Big big hugs Weaver. Stay warm. Deb

I have a dodgy left ear and just turn onto my right side to block it out Pat. Every cloud.

Sometimes the wind in the trees can be a bit frightening...so to not hear it would be a blessing!

Keep warm and dry Pat. It sounds as if winter has arrived with a vengeance. It hasn't quite got to us yet though it was a bit windy last night and we have had several sharp frosts.

I am told, by a man who used to keep pigs, that turning off the hearing aid is an excellent trick at feeding time.

Hi Pat,
I must say I do like being cozy inside the house while the wind howls without!
;) m & jb (who does not like the wind at all)

Cool and damp here yesterday; better today I hope. With afternoon Tea being taken by the fire, my wife's production of Mince Pies is in full swing.

Our storm is yet to arrive here - hopefully it will have passed through early as we are planning to go to an auction at Brecon tomorrow and there are a LOT of trees along that road.

I am going to put up a few decorations today and have told OH we need to get a tree (bah humbug from him!) It will just be a "top" so much cheaper than the ones we used to choose and cut down ourselves at the Christmas tree farm. At least I get to dress it these days!

Just as bad today here - very strong wind and heavy showers. Keep warm everyone (unless you live the other side of the world, in which case keep cool. Thanks for calling.

And hello frombthecother side of the world - Melbourne - where it has been mild and humid (unusually humid for our part of the world) and will warm up to near 30 degrees at the weekend. Our Christmas tree is still sprouting in its pot outside our front door. The Advent calendar seems half full but I have onlybsentvone card so far! Jean
