I hardly dare to say so, but so far I am managing well on my new computer.   The engineer, who has looked after me from the beginning, found an Acer which is an updated model of the one I already had, so it is not all that different.  The only difficulty so far is that the keyboard is further over to the left and I keep pressing the wrong keys.   Being a shorthand typist in a previous life (very previous) I don't usually look at the keys, but at present I am having to.

Haymaking is on hold as, contrary to the long-range forecast at the weekend, which said it would be fine and sunny until thunder on Friday, today  it has become cloudy over the last hour and there have been several heavy showers.  Hot sun is forecast for tomorrow, so with a bit of luck the farmer will get it in then before the weather breaks for real on Friday.

Last evening was the second of four classes in 'The Art and Literature of the 1914-18 war.'   There are seven of us and we have really interesting and lively discussions.   I am enjoying it so much.

As I write this I can hear the farmer in the background, listening to the news.   Rockets fall in Gaza, children killed and injured.   It is always the innocent who suffer isn't it - just as it was in the Great War .   When will they ever learn?   The answer, we all know, is never.

I will sign off now and explore a few new channels on my new toy.  See you tomorrow.

I have an Acer, with the keys slightly off-set to the left which also annoys me being also a trained shorthand typist (in the very dim and distant past) but a skill as a touch typist never forgotten and never regretted. Glad it is all going well.xx

Learning a new computer is always a trial, I find, but sooo satisfying when small victories occur :)

So pleased that the new computer is being friendly. I wondered how long it would take me to remember where all the keys were when I got my first computer, but it all came back even after 50 years.
Fingers crossed for fine weather for the farmer tomorrow.
I dread hearing the news - it is heartbreaking and makes me very angry that humankind can go on behaving so abominably.

Hope the weather holds for you. I don't like to watch the news, they seem to delight in al things grim. People fight over religions, it's so very wrong, and the innocent suffer. I had to read the poetry of WW1 in English Lit 'O' Level, with a brilliant English teacher, it was fantastic.

I'm so glad your transition to your new computer is going so well!
So sorry to hear of the contrary weather for haymaking. I would gladly take your clouds and heavy showers. It's beautiful here today, all brilliant blue skies and slight breeze. Unfortunately, we haven't had any rain lately and what grass we do have it dry, brown and beginning to get crunchy.
Enjoy your new toy! Congratulations on getting your first blog post issued from it.

Encouraged to hear your new laptop is not too disruptive of blessed habit. Yes, I weep for the innocent people who are in the midst! ♥

I've had to turn off the news and stop reading the newspapers for a few days. With the children on our border and the fighting all over, makes me so sad.

I was a shorthand taker/typist in a former life as well. Got me through college and then my husband. Still use my shorthand once in a while in my own notes.

My new machine is also an Acer (E1-527P). I do like it, although I don't bother with the touch screen facility. Unfortunately the space bar occasionally fails me, so I am constantly separating words. I don't like to lift the bar off in case it doesn't go back on again. Life eh?
