Problems, Hopes and Dreams.

I am having real problems with my whole computer system.   My hub is faulty and I have requested a new one and now, this morning, my computer is playing tricks with me.   I think the time is rapidly approaching when I shall have to have a new Laptop.

So, in case I am off line for a few days - can I suggest you go to Rachel's (Slow Lane Shuffle on my side bar) new site - allourhopesanddreams.co.uk - hopefully my son will shortly put you a link for easy reference (I am useless at such things) where you can read my contribution.

You can also see a first school photograph of me, very battered photo it is too, which my brother carried around with him throughout the Second World War, so it has been to Dunkirk and to the relief of Belsen, to name but two places.

In the meantime, I shall keep trying to get on line, but it has taken me an hour this morning to get this far and now lunch calls. Scotch eggs (eat your heart out  John from Going Gently), cauliflower cheese and dry-cure back bacon since you ask.  (Can't use the oven as there is a fruit cake cooking in there.)

You do have good food, Pat.
I would kill for Scotch eggs here.
I really love my Mac Air computer. A new computer is always rather a thrill.

Yeah - get a Mac, Weaver. They are almost (almost) idiot-proof, so worth the extra £800.

How thoughtful of you to provide us with somewhere for us to be able to read your posts. No need for feeling bereft by your absence here! Hope the computer problems can soon be sorted out.
Enjoy your lunch - it sounds delicious.

I like your new header very much - a bit of spring for all of us.

After burning up three hard drives in as many months, I finally had to break down and get a new laptop. I love it!

Really enjoyed your piece over at "All Our Hopes and Dreams." By all means, get yourself a new laptop. At least you will be spending money on something that you will really enjoy.

Good wishes for getting your computer sorted. Few things there are more annoying than an ill behaved non-compliant computer!

What a thought-provoking piece Pat. We too easily idealise "the past" and conveniently forget how much easier all our lives are now. It's made me think about my childhood afresh. Thank you

Thanks for your comments - I really am seriously thinking about a new computer once I get the hub sorted.

I would get a new lap top now and have it ready for when the new hub comes. Then it all systems go and nothing further to do. The BT man did all the necessary with the new lap top when he came with the new hub and I was well away when he went.
I got the lap top from the local computer shop for about £300.
