A Day Out.

I was going across to Sedbergh today to meet my God-daughter - probably the last time I shall see her face-to-face before her wedding day and at the last minute the farmer decided that he would come too (which meant that he also paid for the lunch - can't be bad). We needed to talk through the last few details as I am giving her away at her wedding and now we feel confident that everything is sorted.

Tess looked so smitten that we were thinking of leaving her for a few hours that we relented, took her with us and walked at Cotter Force on the way. The waterfall (they are called Forces up here) was not particularly full although detritus brought down by floodwater littered the sides of the stream and suggested that it had recently been in full flood. It is a half mile walk and it did all three of us a lot of good.

As usual the weather to the West of the Pennines was much damper and duller - we felt rather pleased that we lived in the East of the country. It is always a dilemma - the East is drier but it is also colder, but as we returned and came back into our little market town, once again the sun came out.

A lovely day out, last minute bits and pieces tidied up (I needed to check one or two things I am saying in my speech!) and a jolly nice lunch (kedgeree for me, cottage pie for the Farmer and fish and chips for the bride to be.)

Looking at the photograph of Cotter Force makes me realise that it is still winter - there is not a blade of green grass anywhere.

I think I want your life, Weaver......including the kegeree which would be considered very exotic here.

I too would love to live your life just for a week. So much always going on. But I would have to know everything you can do because I know I don't understand anything about an Aga or chickens.
Now I must google what a kegeree is ? I have no idea !

cheers, parsnip

It may be a wintry scene Pat but it is so unspoilt and beautifully wild.
You day out sounds very satisfactory and I am sure the entire wedding day will be a great success.

What a beautiful waterfall...it must have been a lovely walk despite the cold.

Good luck with giving away your God-daughter! How wonderful is that? I'm sure the day will go by smoothly and happily for everyone :)

Kedgeree - an easy recipe that anyone can follow - Indian in origine and traditionally a breakfast dish - mix together lightly curried rice, cooked smoked haddock and chopped hard-boiled egg - that's it - delicious.

Thanks for the comments.

It does look very wintry, I must admit, which I suppose made me even more surprised to see it so dry. I thought you had been well supplied with rain of late.
