Long Live the Poetry Bus!

This week Enchanted Oak gives us two pictures to choose one and write about it. I have chosen the picture of a boat - an empty boat. moored in a quiet place. This is my offering:-

On seeing an empty boat.

There was a time
when I wished to be
in a boat,
on the sea.
When the distant scene
held a place in my head
and the here
and the now
lay dead.

Then you came and stood
on my horizon.
My vision was restricted.
I knew that you were my
Voyage of Discovery,
my inspiration,
my destination.

Your love poem is beautiful, Weaver. The discovery that the richest voyage is the one before you, not the one on the far horizon, resonates with me.

I don't usually comment on poetry posts. This one is beautiful - it says something to me too.

What a beautiful poem Pat - so full of meaning which will reach out to many readers. I couldn't take part this week as I was unable to access Enchanted Oak's blog for some reason. The links just wouldn't work for me. I'm just going to read your poem again.

A wonderful love poem, Pat, but it leaves me wondering who the "you" is -- a person, the divine, the present moment. No need to know, however; the mystery adds life to the poem.

A lovely poem Pat! As you know, we are not far from Whitby and visit there at least once a week. The rows and rows of boats always conjur up stories and pictures!

I like this poem very much indeed. It is a clever response to the prompt and a sensitive approach to the subject you have made from it. It works on all levels. Great contribution.

What a beautiful take on the prompt, Weaver. A love poem emerges from a history and sails to a future.

I really like this Weaver - as always your candidness is refreshing, and I love how the tragedy of the here and now lying dead was changed in the end.
beautiful

Thanks for the kind comments. Haven't read it to the farmer yet - shall have to choose my moment!

I love how you see so many possibilities from one lonely, still, boat.

I like it, the transistion from first stanza to second and this line in particular...."when the distant scene held a place in my head." We often do that, neglecting what lies in front of us.

Thank you!
