The Lap Dog

That insidious little bug seems to have winkled its way into my head and my nasal passages, so that today is a day of Lemsips and hot drinks in an effort to persuade it to go away. The farmer is busy sorting out another section of the front garden; if I were well I would be helping him so perhaps I should be grateful for small mercies as it is a chilly, damp day.

Just a short post today as my brain has a kind of addled quality to it. But as I type this Tess is standing on her back legs looking out of the window in an effort to fix the farmer with a doggy stare which says - "Have you seen the time? We always walk at four o'clock and by my reckoning it is now half past four."

I must say that in spite of really being "my" dog - she is undoubtedly a man's dog as is evident from the photograph above. She likes nothing better than a rough and tumble - a chase round all the known rabbit-holes and an argument with a ball. Still, she has stolen our hearts and taken over our lives. Shortly she is to be given her first hair-cut and soon after that she will be going into kennels for a fortnight - I am dreading both.

Hello Weaver,

Sorry you're not 100 per cent. Have some chocolate inbetween the Lemsips!

Tess obviously knows a good thing!

Poor Tess - I shouldn't think that either haircuts or kennels would be top of her list of 'things I like to do' :) Do hope you start feeling better soon.

Hope you feel better soon, Weaver.

Poor Tess, give her a hug for me. Haircuts and kennels!

Happy Easter to you and yours, Weaver.

So sorry you have succumbed to the dreaded bug and I hope it will be short lived. Tess and the farmer look very comfortable taking a well earned rest. I am sure she will be well cared for in kennels, there is usually someone around who will take her for a walk and play with her. She looks very sweet and I hope it wont be long before you are out for a 4 o'clock walk again. Take good care of yourself and have a good cosset!!

Snap x 2. On the stolen hearts (by very similar hound) and on the bug (different variety, same limiting effects!).

So sorry you still aren't well.
Tess is looking wonderful. I'm sure the haircut will be a success.
Well, she will be happy to see you after the kennels....
Our late terrier, Skippy, used to get what R. referred to as the 'off to Iraq' look in early summer and look quite funny.
I wish our current character could play in the woods.
But as our son said, better the city with parks than dead....

Take it easy, treat yourself to plenty of rest…and get well. Spring is no time to allow a noxious bug to spoil the fun of the season.

Trust the dreaded bug will soon leave Weaver.
Dogs - man's best friend for sure -would be lost without mine.
Take care.

Lap dogs are meant to sit on laps. How else are they to view the world from their warm place.

It's amazing how those little dogs have an interior clock! Hope you're on the mend, soon, Ms. Weaver.

Hope Tess is giving you plenty of TLC, Weaver (even if it's cupboard love).

Get well soon

Hi Weaver, hope you're feeling better soon. I heard the other day that some guy on he radio was wanting sheep dogs banned from rounding up sheep, I think because it causes them stress! I think if what I heard is true then you aren't the only one with an addled brain, I somehow think it will take more than a Lemsip to cue this poor guy though. Bob.

Hey, we have a lap dog, too. Oh no, that's a 100 lb laB dog. D'oh! Get better! It's spring. Not fair to be sick.

Oh poor you, Weaver. I do hope it doesn't hang about too long. How funny, the first photo on my blog today is of Jim with Buster on his lap! Great minds.

Are you off for 2 weeks then?

So sorry to read that you are not well. Lets hope it does not linger and you can be out and about soon. In all the years I have known you ( I live nearby (for those who do not know)) I cannot remember you ever having any sort of illness.
Tess looks very content on the farmer's knee. She looks enormous from that angle

Thanks to all you doggy and bloggy people - thanks also for your good wishes - I am feeling much better today thank goodness. Bob - whoever thought it was stressful for sheepdogs to round up sheep wants their head testing - if you have a sheepdog and don't give it a job they soon look for one - ducks, hens, children even - anything to round up.

I'm very late here - hope you're feeling better. I think your photograph is a lovely portrait of man and dog. Not sure what a feminist analyst would make of what you take a "man's dog" to be though! [winky smiley here for those who can tolerate such things]
