What a wonderful history, I loved the bit about the halfpenny bridge. Isn't "Beck" a lovely name? I would love to have a beck at the bottom of my garden.
I am a widow for the second time - first marrriage 39 years, second marriage 23 years - both very happy. My second marriage was to a farmer and when he died the farm was sold. I now live in the nearby small town on the edge of Wensleydale in The Yorkshire Dales. My beloved Border Terrier died a couple of years ago - I still miss her but as I am 90 and need carers I shalln't get another I have one son,who lives nearby with his wife, three grandchildren, one step grandchild, two great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren..Life is good.

It rather resembles the picturesque waterway used by Misters Mole and Rat of Wind in the Willows fame! Very pretty!

It may well be the same saterway pamela - I must look out for ratty and mole.
Yes, Acornmoon, it is a lovely beck although when it was in flood earlier this month it became a raging torrent.
I can't believe Grahame stayed nearby! It really looked like the same little waterway I had pictured in my mind from the book! Pretty magical!
